 Etymology:


会意 Associative Compound.
The character was originally 囟 “head” + 心 “heart”; but “head” was corrupted to 田 “field”

Using the brain 囟 (xin4: fontanel: gap between the bones of an infant’s skull)
(replaced by 田 (tian2: field))
and 心 (xin1: heart)
