 Etymology:
会意 Associative Compound.
Plants 艹 ‎(cao3: grass radical) + 屯 ‎(tun2: sprout) + 日 ‎(ri4: sun radical).
The character 春 itself is probably a variant of 屯 as they are equivalent for the meaning “spring” in Old Chinese literature.
