Pale Pastels + Cool Hues for Spring 2015 = En Plein Air (In the Open Air)
Colorful pastel is in for women this Spring/Summer 2015. The bolder colors in the palette become accents to their understated neutral counterparts. The men’s colors deviate from the women’s, mixing natural hues with deep, cool and strong colors.
Women’s Pale Pastels
Beginning with the the lead color for the season, PANTONE 14-4313 Aquamarine is an airy, ethereal and calming blue with a dreamy feel that acts as a stress reducer. It is followed by an invigorating turquoise, PANTONE 16-4725 Scuba Blue, which conveys a sense of carefree playfulness, reminiscent of a tropical ocean. The reliable, harmonious and confident PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue serves as an anchor to the Spring/Summer 2015 palette. PANTONE 14-5714 Lucite Green is a soothing and refreshing minty green shade whose time has really come again.
Bringing balance and neutrality to the women’s palette are PANTONE 14-1213 Toasted Almond and PANTONE 14-4102 Glacier Gray. The Toasted Almond is a sun-tanned neutral, but versatile hue that offers comforting warmth and is indicative of a spontaneous spring, summer feeling. The timeless and graceful Glacier Gray is an unobtrusive gray that contrasts and enhances; bouncing off other shades without taking away from them as it slips into the background to allow other colors to take center stage.
Finally, the warmer women’s hues: The subtle and charming coral PANTONE 16-1720 Strawberry Ice is suggestive of a refreshing and healthy delicacy, yet its warmth as a color is quite appealing. PANTONE 15-1247 Tangerine is a spontaneous and gregarious orange shade that is energizing, yet not jarring to the eye. The subtly delectable yellow PANTONE 13-0720 Custard is sweet and sunny, yet mellow and comforting. Contrasting to the other hues, PANTONE 18-1438 Marsala serves as the foundation to the Spring/Summer 2015 palette. It is sensual and bold, yet inviting and nurturing.

Men’s Bold Cool Hues
Largely deviating from the women’s palette, the menswear colors are mainly deep, base colors interspersed with natural tones. PANTONE 16-4120 Dusk Blue is perennially a favorite shade for men because of its dependability and serenity. It is followed by the darker, more confident PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, which serves as an anchor to the Spring/Summer 2015 palette. The restorative and healthy PANTONE 18-0135 Treetop is a natural and fertile green, ideally used as a background to other shades. The tropical yellow-green PANTONE 18-0538 Woodbine acts as nature’s neutral that could be used with anything and everything.
Men’s neutral colors play a bigger role than women’s this year. The unobtrusive PANTONE 14-4102 Glacier Gray plays a dominant role for men’s fashion for its contrasts and enhancements; bouncing off other shades without taking away from them. Strong, masculine and classic, the PANTONE 17-4014 Titanium is a gray shade that speaks of timelessness, durability and strength. The PANTONE 14-1213 Toasted Almond is a sun-tanned neutral, but versatile hue that offers comforting warmth and is indicative of a spontaneous spring, summer feeling. The rugged and earthy PANTONE 16-1328 Sandstone is a stable and grounded shade with warming qualities.
Interesting and contrasting to the other hues PANTONE 18-1438 Marsala serves as the foundation to the Spring/Summer 2015 palette. It is sensual and bold, yet inviting and nurturing. The surprising and intriguing PANTONE 16-3310 Lavender Herb is a shade rich in nostalgia that lends that distinctive pop of color to the men’s palette.
